Is it not possible to make signatures ourselves? There may be a warning that the signature can't be verified, but that may be acceptable. A signature doesn't prove the application is safe, it only tell's me who I can sue if it is malware.

MarioSalzer?: I'm not sure, if this works at all. Last time I've tried incorrectly signed Applets not only spawned the warning, but refused to work completely.
However, for promotion and wider use of Jicra it would be nice anyhow, if we could provide a readily useable JarFile, which would (by its signature) clearly state, that is was checked for brevity.
